Historic center of Sestola

Just a few minutes away the historic downtown of Sestola awaits you with its shops, restaurants, bars and cultural and artistic monuments and locations. 

You will be fascinated by the 19th century bell tower that dominates the town, the 17th century churches of San Nicolò and Madonna del Rosario, the 18th century Fontana del Forno fountain, Fontana of Piazza della Vittoria with its bronze statues and Fontana degli amori dedicated to lovers. 

Take time to discover all corners of the town, surrounded by the beauty of the Apennine mountains.

Sestola Castle

Relive the past within the walls of the Medieval castle of Sestola! La Rocca, as it is known by the locals, is the town landmark. 

From its high rock top you get a breathtaking view of Sestola, its valleys and the below Scoltenna and Leo creeks. The “Rocca” hosts an attractive museum and temporary and permanent exhibitions. 

The inner walls surround the old town as well as a small church, beyond the external city walls, dating back to the 1500s, is located Parco della Corvetta, a natural amphitheatre, the appropriate choice for moments of relax.

Cimone district

The Cimone district is the largest Tuscan-Emilian Apennine ski district with over 50 kms of slopes, connected and linked with modern implants all available with one ski-pass.

 The ideal place for all skiers, the three mountainsides offer challenging slopes of over 600 meter drops but as well, simple and short ski slopes for a more relaxed activity. If you’re a starter, the numerous ski instructors are ready to follow up on your lessons and show you the most fitting techniques. 

Children can access tailor made lessons and babies will find available a baby park where to enjoy and have time with inflatables, rubber rafts and other items. New for the 2019/2020 ski season, at the Passo del Lupo mountain pass, the first bobsled track of the Apennines, with its own ski lift. A 120 meter drop with exciting turns and curves guarantee lots of fun.

Lago della Ninfa lake

Lago della Ninfa (Lake of the Nymph) is a suggestive mountain lake at 1,500 meters elevation, immersed within the beech and coniferous trees at the northeast foothills of Mount Cimone. 

The perfect place to start off walks and excursions of the surroundings. 

An ideal place to soak in the sun or for fishing. During the winter season don’t miss the snow park and kids can have fun at the Baby Park.

Esperia Botanical Garden

For those who love nature, a stop at the Esperia Botanical Garden is a must, a botanical paradise situated in the Parco del Frignano at the Passo del Lupo mountain pass, 1,500 meters elevation at only 11 kms from Sestola. 

In the garden you’ll find hundreds of indigenous flower varieties, several plants and flowers from far away countries and much more to go through a multi-sensorial experience, from nature itself, in a wonderful perfumed and colorful natural green spot.
